Can't find yours? Call the hotline on 077 813 2025.
How do I sign up?
Open Vaanga, enter your mobile number and type in the 6-digit code we send by SMS. Your first sign-in creates your account, so there is no separate registration. Next time, the same two steps log you in.
How is my fare worked out?
From the road distance of your route: a first-km price plus a rate for each km after it (Rs 120 + Rs 90 a km for a tuk), rounded to the nearest Rs 10. Popular routes from Kinniya bus stand have a fixed price by tuk, car or van instead. Parcels and goods are priced the same way. You always see the total before you book.
Can the price change during the ride?
No. The fare is locked when you book and there is no surge pricing. The only extra is the night rate (+15% from 10 pm to 5 am), which is already included in the price you see. If your driver waits more than 3 minutes at the pickup, waiting is Rs 5 a minute.
How do I pay?
Rides, parcels and goods are paid in cash to the driver. Rentals are paid at the shop when you collect the vehicle. Card and wallet payments are not available yet.
Can I cancel a ride?
Yes. Cancelling is free until a driver accepts your request.
How many people can ride on a bike?
One passenger. A bike is the quickest way through town: Rs 80 for the first km, then Rs 60 a km. For two or more, book a tuk, car or van.
What can I send as a parcel?
Things like documents, a small package, food or clothes. A bike is quickest for small parcels; pick a tuk for bigger ones, or a car to keep it covered. Say what's inside when you book. For bigger loads, book a Truck.
Who receives my parcel, and how is it paid?
You add the receiver's name and mobile number when you book. The driver sees them and can call them at the drop. A parcel is priced like a ride, shown before you send it, and paid in cash to the driver.
What fits in a truck?
The mini lorry has an open bed for loads up to 1 ton: furniture, shop stock, food, building materials or a house move. A van takes smaller loads that should stay covered. Say what you're moving when you book, so the driver knows before accepting. A mini lorry is Rs 350 for the first km, then Rs 180 a km.
Can I ride along with my goods?
Truck trips are booked for goods, not for passengers. If you are travelling too, book a ride for yourself.
How do I rent a car?
Tap Rental, pick a shop and a vehicle, and choose your days on its calendar: up to 30 days, starting up to 180 days ahead. The shop accepts or declines and you're told at once. Cancelling is free before the first day.
What do I pay for a rental, and where?
Each shop sets its own daily price and deposit, and you see both before you ask. You pay the rent and the refundable deposit at the shop when you collect the vehicle. Nothing is paid in the app.
I own a rental shop. How do I list it?
In the app, open Rental (or Account) and tap List your rental shop. Add the name, phone and location, and Vaanga checks it. Once it's approved, add your vehicles with a daily price and accept or decline requests.
Can I book without a smartphone?
Yes. Call 077 813 2025 and our hotline staff will book the ride and find you a driver. Fares are the same as in the app.
Where does Vaanga run?
We are starting in Kinniya. Rides run around town and out to places like Kinniya Bridge, Trincomalee town, Mutur and China Bay, and airport transfers go as far as Katunayake (BIA).
What does it cost to drive with Vaanga?
No commission on any fare. You choose a plan: daily (Rs 100 for a bike, Rs 150 for a tuk, charged only on days you get a ride), weekly, monthly, or per trip (capped at the daily price). Car, van and mini lorry plans cost a little more. You can drive a tuk, bike, car, van or mini lorry.
What do I need to become a driver?
A smartphone, a selfie, and photos of your NIC, driving licence, revenue licence and insurance certificate. The vehicle registration book helps but is optional. We review everything before you can go online.
Which languages does the app speak?
Tamil, Sinhala and English. It opens in Tamil, and you can change it any time in Account.
Add Vaanga to your home screen.
Open the web app on your phone and tap Install. Rides, parcels, trucks and rentals are all in it, and it works like an app, even on weak signal. Android and iPhone apps are on the way.
