Terms of use

Last updated 5 November 2026

These terms apply when you use Vaanga: the customer app, the driver app, the web app and the hotline. By creating an account or booking through Vaanga you agree to them. Please read them with the privacy policy.

1. What Vaanga does

Vaanga connects people in and around Kinniya with independent drivers and vehicle owners for rides, parcel deliveries and goods by mini lorry, with drivers and owners for pre-booked hires (airport, wedding, day and hourly), and with local rental shops for self-drive vehicles. Drivers, vehicle owners and rental shops are not Vaanga employees; they provide the trip, delivery or vehicle, and Vaanga provides the app, the hotline and support.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over and use your own mobile number. One account per person.
  • Keep your phone and sign-in codes to yourself; you're responsible for what is booked from your account.
  • Give accurate information, including your name, pickup and drop, and for parcels the receiver's details.
  • You can delete your account at any time (see account deletion).

3. Prices and payment

  • The app shows the price before you book. Popular routes have fixed prices; others are priced by road distance. A night rate applies late at night.
  • You pay the driver in cash at the end of the trip, unless the app says otherwise.
  • If you cancel after the driver has arrived, a cancellation fee may apply, as shown in the app.
  • Hires are priced by the quote or package you accept, including any advance it asks for.

4. Parcels and goods

  • Describe what you send honestly. Don't send anything illegal, dangerous (such as fuel, gas cylinders, weapons or explosives), live animals, or cash and valuables.
  • Pack parcels so they travel safely. The driver may refuse anything unsafe or that doesn't fit the vehicle.
  • For a parcel, make sure the receiver is available at the drop; the driver will call them.
  • Goods trips are for goods. Loading and unloading are your responsibility unless you agree otherwise with the driver.

5. Car rentals

  • A rental is an agreement between you and the rental shop. The shop sets the daily price, the deposit, the kilometres included and its own conditions, and confirms or declines your request.
  • You pay the rent and the refundable deposit at the shop when you collect the vehicle, and you must show the shop a valid driving licence.
  • You can cancel a request in the app before the first day of the rental.
  • Vaanga lists shops it has approved but is not responsible for the vehicle, its insurance or the shop's conditions.

6. Behaviour and safety

  • Treat drivers, customers and shop staff with respect. No violence, threats, harassment or discrimination.
  • Wear a seat belt or helmet where one is provided, and follow the driver's safety instructions.
  • In an emergency call 119 first; then tell us through the app or the hotline.
  • We may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, give false information, or put others at risk.

7. Drivers, owners and rental shops

  • You must hold a valid licence, registration, revenue licence and insurance for your vehicle, keep them current, and drive safely and legally.
  • Vaanga reviews your documents before you can take rides, and approves rental shops before customers can see them.
  • Drivers keep the fares they collect and pay Vaanga the plan fee they chose. If unpaid fees reach the limit shown in the driver app, you can't go online until you pay. Booked hires may also carry a fee.
  • Rental shops must describe their vehicles truthfully and honour the requests they accept.

8. Liability

Vaanga provides the app and support with care, but the trip, delivery or rental is provided by the driver, owner or shop. To the extent Sri Lankan law allows, Vaanga isn't liable for indirect losses, or for loss of or damage to goods beyond what the law requires. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Sri Lankan law that can't be excluded.

9. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll tell you in the app when a change matters. These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka.
